Adelaide is the capital city of South Australia and is situated on the Adelaide Plains north of the Fleurieu Peninsula, between the Gulf St Vincent in the west and the Mount Lofty Ranges in the east. Adelaide has a Mediterranean climate, which means it has hot, dry summers and cool winters with moderate rainfall. The city is home to around one million people and is divided into two parts, Adelaide and North Adelaide, separated by Torrens River. A diverse range of landscapes surround the city, including green parkland, the Mount Lofty Ranges and coastal beaches.
